If you get locked out of your car, there are multiple ways that you can get into your vehicle even if you don't have the key to your car. Here are a few do-it-yourself methods you can try if you can't get ahold of a locksmith quickly enough for you to get into your vehicle. The locking mechanisms vary a lot from vehicle to vehicle, so not all of the do-it-yourself tricks listed below may work for you.

Shoe String Method

This method is designed for vehicles that have a lock which can be pulled up in order to unlock your vehicle. To do this, you just need access to a shoestring. You'll want to take the shoe string, and make a very small loop in the middle of the shoelace. You will want to be able to pull the string tighter. First, you will want to work string into the edge of your door. Since the string is thin, you should be able to get it into the side of your door if you pull on the door a little bit. You'll want to try to try to insert the shoe string above where your lock is located, and lower the string down to your lock. You'll want to then get the string around the lock, then tighten the loop. When the loop is tight, use the string to pull up the lock. It may take you a few attempts, but you should be able to get your lock up with this method.

Screwdriver Method

This method works with locks where you have to push a button in order to get into your vehicle. For this you will need a Phillips head screwdriver and you will also need a long, sturdy steel rod or pole-type of instrument. Make sure you are very careful with this method; you don't want the metal rod you use to damage your vehicle.

Put the screwdriver in the door jam at the top of your door and use it to make a small gap in the top of your door. Then, take the rod and stick it through the gap and into your vehicle. Use the rod to push the unlock button on your vehicle. Just be careful that you don't scrape the rod against the interior or exterior of the vehicle.

If you can't wait for a locksmith, and you have the right tools lying around, try one of the two methods listed above to get into your locked vehicle. If these methods do not work, you may have to wait for a locksmith, like Broadway Locksmith Inc,  to arrive and use their tools to get into your vehicle.
